Olea Sylvestris Bonsai Care

Position:
Place in full sun with good airflow. Wild Olive bonsai thrive with plenty of direct sunlight, which encourages compact, healthy growth.

Watering:
Water thoroughly when the surface of the growing medium begins to dry. Avoid allowing the root system to remain continuously waterlogged and ensure excellent drainage throughout the year.

Feeding:
Feed regularly during the active growing season using a balanced bonsai fertiliser to support healthy foliage and continued development.

Pruning:
Prune new growth as required to maintain the established silhouette and encourage finer ramification.

Repotting:
Repot approximately every 2–4 years depending on root development and soil condition, ideally during the appropriate spring period. Always use a high-quality, free-draining bonsai growing medium.

Winter Care:
Olea sylvestris is relatively robust, but valuable specimen trees should be protected from prolonged hard frost. Excellent winter drainage is particularly important.
